The Fireman's Wife, A MemoirThanks for choosing The Fireman's Wife for your book club. Here are a few questions to consider for your group.

1) In the beginning of the book I go through the feelings I have in - I AM. Whether or not you're married to a firefighter, these are common feelings. Read each of the titles and discuss a time when these feelings have been generated in your own life.

2) In the first section of the book, I talk about supporting my husband as he pursues a career I am not completely comfortable with. Have you ever supported someone in this way? Discuss some of the pros and cons you faced during this time.

3) Okay, you've all walked with me as I left my baby in front of a restaurant (yes, it was the most horrifying experience of my life). Have you ever forgotten something really important, or made a huge mistake that haunts you still? If it's not too personal (or embarrassing), share it with the group.

4) In - And Then There Were Five - I tell a favorite joke about learning to trust God. After reading that chapter, talk about a time you've had to let go of the outcome and trust.

5) Near the end of the book, I pick up the pace as I share the experience of Dan's accident. You don't have to have a loved one seriously hurt to be able to relate to my experience. Talk about a time when you've had to overcome a personal crisis or hurdle and how that's made you stronger or wiser.

If you'd like an opportunity to have me call into your book club, please go to contact us and send me an email with the date, a time when your group is meeting (remember I'm on the West Coast), and phone number. I will choose several clubs a month based on my availablity and join you for a few minutes during one of your gatherings.

I look forward to talking with you!

Susan
